Colclough Walled Garden

Kitchen Garden

The Kitchen Garden is separated from the ornamental section by a dividing brick wall. The wall has 2 doorways north and south and a cart arch beside the stream. Each year a range of vegetables are sown in long straight lines on the south-facing slope and soft fruits grow along the perimeter. Visitors in exchange for a donation can bring the produce of the kitchen garden.

The Kitchen Garden is surrounded by a row of Apple trees and stone fruit trees grow on the high walls around the Garden. Peaches, Pears, Figs, Grapes, Almonds, Walnuts, Apricots and Nectarines, all grow trained along the warm brick wall.

Each year volunteers pick the Apples and make cider and apple juice, which is available for sale at the visitor reception area.
